Three States of the Union, colloquially known as Blue States, champions of progressive governance, sponsored an election on November 4, 2025, in which the results routed their politically antithetical opponents. For the Republican Party, the electoral contender, the agony of such an ignominious defeat, compounded by the Democratic Party’s significant margin of victory, underscored a decisive humiliation.
As is the usual response for election losers, in this instance the Republicans, the aftermath of a publicly pronounced political beatdown prompts the party’s intelligentsia to ask the two standard questions: ‘why’ and ‘because’.
The why is objectively obvious: a change in ideological culture and the subsequent policies that flow from it are not what the majority of voters wanted. The populace voted to remain a sanctuary State. They wanted to continue funding unreliable green energy rather than using lower-cost, more reliable fossil-fuel alternatives. The election results confirmed that higher taxes and crime for NJ and NYC residents are not only tolerable but widely accepted.
With a dash of bewilderment and a pinch of the Trump derangement malaise, the ‘because’ is as subjective as the ‘why’ is objective. The Democratic candidate’s campaign was centered on various themes, such as: Trump is an unethical bully, an exhibitor of dysfunctional behavior. A vote for me is a vote against Trump. At the same time, the City of New York tossed out all decision-making aphorisms and traditional governing references by endorsing socialism as the means to solve commercial, public, private, and shared communal problems.
The New Jersey and Virginia Blue State Democrats confidently declare: Red Staters, you mega-Trumpians, we fronted candidates who voted 90% with Biden and got them elected as moderates. Now that we have won, we, open-border liberal-progressive-socialists — we globalists who align more with contrarian theoretics than the realpolitik—we, whose election success relies on the electorate’s wholehearted oxymoron of deafening silence or the willful acceptance of the erratically impulsive. We practitioners of Machiavellianism determined disciples of counter-intuitiveness, and believers in socialism, despite socialism’s history of failure. We Blue Staters won!
